This novel was interesting, to say the least. Many aspects, like the first-person perspective were very entertaining. The narrator, Ruby reminded me a lot of myself, her sarcastic and dark tones were very amusing. But I found it to be very frustrating to track the story with the back and forth of the footnotes and chapters. Keeping track of the numerous amount of characters coming and going was also annoying, even with the family tree. From this novel and especially the seminars, I learned how helpful seminar discussions could be when analyzing novels. I had several insights during these seminars thanks to my peers. It is extremely helpful to analyze texts with other people because they may have realized the importance of certain details that you overlooked. Working with your peers also allows you to further develop your own ideas about the novel because many people are giving their input and personal reflections.
